Therefore, the recommended solution will be chosen based on determining the most feasible option for these differences.(#  R A.` ` Overtopping Protection(#` XX` ` The construction of stepped RCC overtopping protection is somewhat specialized but should be within the capability of experienced earth fill contractors. The RCC option requires only a single sand filter drain transition which is relatively easy to place. However, the massive stone option requires more care and control to assure filter action between the downstream slope and foundation and the massive rock fill. The massive stone needed may be difficult to find unless a quarry operator has a waste pile of oversize rock. Consequently, even though RCC is a more specialized construction operation, it seems to be more applicable to this construction site from a constructability perspective. (#` ` ` From a cost perspective, the massive stone option is not quite as ` ` expensive as the RCC option.
